Is this a drop-in install, or do I need a gunsmith?

Does it replace the whole sight or just the mount?
It replaces the rear sight mount and reuses your existing factory components, so you keep your original sight picture.

Can I use Loctite on the set screws?
No. Loctite reacts with the material and can cause cracking — the set screws hold securely without it.

This should have been a total redesign, not a sight that requires salvaging parts from the original. Using steel would have been better.

Hi Mitchell, thank you for feedback. The drop-in design was a deliberate choice: reusing the factory parts keeps the price accessible, while still fixing the elevation drift at the source. That said, a CNC-machined aluminum version is in development, and it's exactly the upgrade you're describing. This is the rear sight Sig should have built from the beginning! It fits wells, stays secure, is easy to adjust, and most importantly holds its elevation. My only recommendation would be to make the elevation adjustment screw use the same size hex wrench as the windage adjustment screw so you only need a single hex wrench for both.
